One of the most frequently asked questions I get on my YouTube channel is about WickedWhims—specifically, why it's not working or showing up in people's games. So I decided to write a guide to help you troubleshoot and fix the most common issues.
First things first:
Make sure you downloaded WickedWhims from the official website. If you got it elsewhere, delete it from your Mods folder and redownload the correct version. Installing it properly is crucial.
Your game version must match the WickedWhims version you installed. If your game isn't up to date, download an older version of WickedWhims that matches your game version.
If the WickedWhims you downloaded is not compatible with your game version especially if you haven't updated your game in a while, you can download WickedWhims Past Versionshere.
3. Properly Unzip the Mod
When you download WickedWhims, the folder is zipped, so if you are using a Windows computer (some newer computers don't need this so you can skip if your computer can automatically extract/unzip them), you would need to extract/unzip the folder using a file archiver and the unzipped folder is what you should place inside your Mods folder. I believe some Macs come with built in file archivers, hence, there is no need to do this step, but if you don't see that feature, go ahead and search Google for a free file archiver that is compatible with your MacOS;
If you are not familiar with unzipping files, here's how to do it.
4. Missing Files?
Check places like OneDrive. Sometimes downloaded files end up there. If so, move them into your Mods folder. It is also possible that the missing file was blocked by your firewall or antivirus software. If that's the case, add an exception to your firewall/antivirus.
To add an exception on Windows, click here. To add an exception on Mac, click here.
As to adding exceptions to your antivirus, the steps to this vary, depending on what antivirus software you are using, so I would advise to Google "how to add an exception + name of your antivirus software";
5. File Structure
Make sure the WickedWhims files aren't buried too deep.
❌ Mods > WickedWhims > WickedWhimsMod
✅ Mods > WickedWhimsMod
THIS IS WRONG
THIS IS CORRECT
When you unzip WickedWhims, it usually has a subfolder named "WickedWhimsMod". Take that subfolder out from the main WickedWhims folder and place it directly under the Mods folder. Don't forget to discard the main WickedWhims folder and the zipped WickedWhims folder;
6. Install Animations
Animations are required for many WickedWhims features to work. The base mod comes with a few, but others are tied to specific furniture like beds or showers. Without animations, certain interactions won't show up.
Animations typically don't need updating unless the creator has released an updated version. So, do check them as well should you encounter issues in your game.

7. Remove Duplicates
Check for duplicates and older versions of the mod in your Mods folder. If you find any, delete them and clear the cache again.
8. Conflicts With Other Mods
If you have other mods with similar features, there could be conflicts. Double-check any mods you use and visit their pages to see if they mention WickedWhims compatibility.
9. Update UI & CAS Mods
Mods like UI Cheats or More Columns in CAS can break after a patch. If outdated, they might conflict with WickedWhims or even crash your game. Update or remove them and clear your cache.
10. Broken Custom Content
It’s not always mods—broken CC can cause issues too. A corrupt hair crashed my game once. Use tools like Better Exceptions to scan your game.
11. Delete Old WickedWhims Cache Files
Go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves > WickedWhimsMod and delete the files there. These files can cause the mod to behave unexpectedly if corrupted.
Mod Is Working, But Features Are Missing?
12. Settings Reset or Changed
Some features, like the s*x menu disappearing after an interaction, are tied to autonomy settings. You can adjust cooldowns or locations in:
Make sure Manual Mode is enabled. Also delete these two files in the WickedWhimsMod folder if issues persist:
dynamic_disabled_animations.json
all_disabled_animations.json
This resets the animation list and usually fixes missing animations.
13. Try Reinstalling
Delete the mod, clear the cache, and reinstall it correctly. This fixes most random issues.
14. Rig Conflict Warning
You might have an old rig file from another mod. Either remove the conflicting mod or rename your WickedWhims folder to start with ! so it loads first.
15. Missing Teen Features?
These were removed due to game updates. A separate add-on is now required, and you'll need to re-enable the features in the WickedWhims settings.
16. Visual Issues
❍ Sims Partially Invisible
Caused by multiple default body overrides . Use only one top and one bottom override.
❍ Black or Wrong Colored Genitals
Caused by skin tone CC that doesn’t support extended texture space. Remove or update conflicting skin tone mods.
❍ Sims Wearing Clothes When Nude
Use the command ww.fix_sim_nude_outfit to fix this. Some accessories or clothes aren’t supported by the mod.
❍ Floating/Distorted Body Parts
Caused by outdated rig mods. Remove any rig mods released before June 2022, especially from creators like Denton47, NANDONG, or Azmodan22.
❍ Incorrect Anatomy
You can customize your Sim’s anatomy using:
Wicked > Personalization > Anatomy > Genitals
Note that what’s seen in CAS may differ from in-game.
If you’ve tried everything and are still having problems, your save might be corrupted. Save your game in a new slot, and try testing the mod on a fresh save or after doing a factory reset.
