DirectX 11 (DX11) is a set of Microsoft drivers designed to enhance both visual and audio performance in games. When applied to The Sims 4 on compatible PCs, DX11 can improve game performance, delivering smoother animations and an overall better gameplay experience.
Please note that DX11 is not available for PlayStation or Mac systems.
In the most recent Sims 4 update, players using NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards will automatically default to DirectX 11. If you had previously opted into DX11 manually, be sure to remove the "-dx11" argument to ensure smooth gameplay. Detailed instructions are provided below.
Important: Failing to remove the "-dx11" argument will prevent access to the DirectX 9 option in the game's settings menu.
Intel and Other Graphics Cards
Players using Intel or other graphics cards will continue to run The Sims 4 on DirectX 9, with a future update planned to bring DX11 compatibility.
