How To Repair Your Game (Steam)

When you've tried all the basic troubleshooting, and your game still acts up, you may need to repair it (Remember to back up your saves before anything else).  Here's how (Note that this is for those who bought their game from Steam.  Origin users, please click here):

1) Open Steam, click on Library, right-click on The Sims 4 game icon, choose Properties:

2) Select LOCAL FILES tab:

3) Click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES:

4) Let Steam run the validation and wait until it is finished. This usually takes less than a minute:

5) You will get either of the two results:

This means your game files are okay, or...

This means some of your game files may be corrupt or broken. Just let Steam reacquire the files and wait until it completes it.

6) Launch the game and see if the issue is fixed. If not, you may need to do a FACTORY RESET of your game.
