Dial Tone by Danitysimmer expands phone interactions in The Sims 4 with new types of calls and a voicemail system. The outcome of a call can depend on the Sims’ relationship, the caller’s current situation, and sometimes chance. A Sim on the other end may offer support, agree to help, react negatively, or simply fail to answer.
New phone interactions are tied to specific emotional situations. Sims who are Sad, Tense, Angry, or Uncomfortable can call someone for emotional support, while angry Sims can contact another Sim to vent their frustration. The response depends on their relationship, with different outcomes affecting both mood and friendship.
Sims can also ask acquaintances for a favor. Close friends are more likely to help, while less familiar Sims may only agree reluctantly or refuse the request entirely.
Voicemail System
Dial Tone also changes how nighttime phone calls work. When a Sim calls someone who is sleeping between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM, they can leave a voicemail instead of receiving the usual sleeping notification. The sleeping Sim will call back several hours later.
Voicemail works with all of the mod's new call types and currently supports several standard interactions, including Chat, Discuss Interests, and Get to Know. The creator plans to expand voicemail support to additional phone interactions in future updates.
