First Impressions

This mod makes it so that when Sims meet for the First time, they'll develop First Impressions towards each other. The first impressions are visible as sentiments in the Sim Profile's relationship panel.

INFO: (from creator's website)

If we want realism, not all Sims should get along with every Sim right off the bat all the time! This mod is there to change that.

In The Sims, Sims form their first impressions of each other based on their own traits and the traits of the Sims they meet. These impressions are not random but are influenced by the specific traits of the Sims involved. Here are some examples:

A cheerful Sim may be seen as 'annoying' by a loner or mean Sim, while an outgoing, bro, or good Sim is more likely to find them good company.
A loner Sim may be perceived as capable and independent by similar personalities or positive Sims, or as cold and distant by warm, social Sims.
A snob Sim may find a childish Sim immature, while a goofball Sim might find them funny, and a good Sim might see them as imaginative.
It's important to note that there are positive and negative aspects to every trait, and this system is meant for fun and not to promote judgment or meanness. Sims can have varying reactions to the same traits, and the system aims to simulate a first impression, which is based on one dominant facet of a Sim's personality at a specific moment.

How the Impression Generation System Works:

Sims meet and use an introduction interaction.
The system looks at the traits of the newly encountered Sim.
It selects a dominant trait to focus on.
It looks at the traits of your Sim to determine possible first impressions based on trait pairs.
It chooses one first impression.
First impressions can have effects on Sims' moods, romance and friendship development, and their autonomy in initiating interactions.

General Mod Info:

The mod has different versions, some with time decay for first impressions, and others without. The impact of using specific introductions (e.g., funny or rude) is influenced by an optional module.

There's a list of possible impressions, including admirable, annoying, crush, distant, funny, and more.

This system helps make Sims' interactions and relationships more dynamic and realistic.

Requirements:

This mod requires the "Mood Pack Mod" and, for some effects, the "Parenthood" game pack. It's base-game compatible, but some features may be enhanced with the Parenthood pack. Custom traits and certain traits like Foodie, Glutton, Dog Lover, and Cat Lover are not recognized by the system.

The mod enhances the social dynamics and experiences of Sims in the game, making their interactions more varied and interesting.

Mod Versions - Which to Choose:

WithTimeDecay Version: In this version, first impressions gradually fade away with time, in addition to other methods of removal. Sentiments formed based on first impressions have a finite lifespan of 5 days and will gradually disappear. They can leave even faster if new sentiments are formed. This version adds a dynamic element to how first impressions affect Sims' interactions over time.

NoTimeDecay Version: In this version, time has no impact on the longevity of first impressions. Impressions formed through interactions and based on traits remain stable and are only affected by further contact. Every time a new sentiment is attempted to be added or is added through interactions, existing first impressions will take a hit. This occurs in both versions but without the time-based decay. Sentiments can be removed primarily through new interactions and changes in the relationship dynamics between Sims.

The choice between these versions depends on your preferred gameplay style and how you want first impressions to affect Sims' interactions and relationships. The "WithTimeDecay" version introduces a natural decay of sentiments over time, while the "NoTimeDecay" version keeps impressions more constant, with changes occurring primarily through new interactions.

The 'Mood Pack' is a Mood Bank for mods. It contains dozens of custom moods, and nothing else. It does nothing in itself, it's just a bank of moods that sits there. When a mod wants to use a custom mood, it calls to the Mood Pack, which provides that, and then goes back to sleep. It is a resource used by various modders in various mods.

From the Mood Pack, First Impressions uses the moods: Wary, Insecure, Weirded Out, and Affectionate.
