Love Triangle by maplebell adds a relationship drama system to The Sims 4, allowing Sims to develop romantic feelings for two different characters at the same time. The mod introduces new social interactions, confrontations, emotional reactions, and relationship decisions that let players create complicated romantic storylines.
To establish a love triangle, a Sim must have at least 30 Romance points with each of two Sims. Once these requirements are met, the Reveal Divided Heart interaction becomes available under the Romance menu. After activating it, the central Sim gains access to special interactions related to their two romantic interests.
Love Triangle Interactions
The Sim at the center of the triangle can secretly spend time with one romantic interest through the Sneak Around interaction. They can also use Reflect on Feelings and Explore Feelings to consider their relationships and receive hints based on their current romance levels.
The two love interests have their own interactions as well. They can confront the central Sim through Demand Explanation after discovering secret meetings, or issue an Ultimatum when they want a clearer understanding of the relationship.
A confrontation must happen within 24 Sim hours after a Sneak Around interaction. Otherwise, the opportunity to demand an explanation expires.
Sims can also experience a Trial Separation, temporarily pausing the central Sim's romantic interactions for 24 Sim hours.
Ask Friends for Advice
Sims dealing with a complicated romantic situation can turn to trusted friends for guidance. The mod introduces additional conversations that allow them to share their relationship troubles, discuss their feelings, and ask for advice.
To unlock these interactions, the central Sim must have at least 80 Friendship points and no positive Romance points with the friend they want to talk to. These options can be found under Relationship → Other Sims → Love Triangle.
Resolving the Love Triangle
Players have several ways to bring the situation to an end. Depending on the story, Sims can accept an open relationship, propose a fresh start, end a relationship, or make a final decision between their two romantic interests.
The I Choose You Over interaction allows the central Sim to select the romantic partner they want to keep. The rejected love interest experiences corresponding friendship and romance relationship decreases, making the decision affect all three Sims.
The mod does not automatically prevent jealousy, so romantic interactions involving either love interest can still trigger the game's normal jealousy reactions.
The latest v1.3 update also improves interaction availability, corrects moodlet assignments, fixes relationship outcomes, and makes the custom interactions player-directed again.
Love Triangle is Base Game Compatible and requires the XML Injector and Lumpinou's Mood Pack. No expansion or stuff packs are necessary.
Love Triangle is a great addition for players who enjoy romantic storytelling, complicated relationships, unexpected confrontations, and soap-opera-style drama in The Sims 4.
