Waste Manager Overhaul by lotharihoe improves the waste management system in The Sims 4 by making the Waste Manager NPC more useful and giving household trash disposal a more realistic routine. Designed around the Reduce and Recycle lot challenge from Eco Lifestyle, the mod changes how residential trash cans fill up and how waste is handled around the home.
With this mod installed, the Reduce and Recycle challenge is automatically applied to residential lots and cannot be removed. Households now produce waste, and outdoor trash cans have limited capacity rather than holding unlimited amounts of garbage.
To help manage the extra waste, a Waste Manager visits every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at around 7 AM to empty outdoor trash cans. If players are visiting another lot during the scheduled service, they receive a notification when they return home. Sims can no longer manually use the Empty Trash interaction on outdoor garbage cans, making the scheduled service an important part of household waste management.
The mod also addresses several frustrating trash-related issues. Adding garbage to an almost-full outdoor bin will no longer cause trash piles to appear around it, and Sims will no longer randomly receive trash piles in their inventories during certain interactions.
Waste Manager Overhaul requires The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle. Players should also check compatibility with other mods that modify outdoor trash cans, waste management interactions, or the Waste Manager NPC.
