Lifelines by JellyPaws adds a comprehensive health and healthcare system to The Sims 4, introducing medical records, illnesses, treatment, doctor appointments, mental health, injuries, recovery, and other health-related gameplay.

Most of the system is managed through the Lifelines phone app, where Sims can create health profiles for household members, manage medications, schedule medical appointments, review treatments, and keep track of their overall condition.

The mod includes several areas of healthcare, including everyday illnesses, chronic conditions, mental health, dental care, vision care, injuries and rehabilitation, and infant health profiles. Sims can experience conditions such as colds, respiratory infections, allergies, asthma, migraines, diabetes, arthritis, and other long-term health profiles, with symptoms and gameplay effects varying by condition.

Medical visits can cover routine checkups, illness appointments, specialist consultations, and treatments. More serious situations can result in hospital stays followed by a recovery period, while minor illnesses can be managed through medication, rest, and help from family members.

The mental health system allows Sims to begin therapy, practice grounding techniques, keep a journal, and develop supportive routines. Therapy can continue even without a formal diagnosis, giving players another way to incorporate mental wellness into everyday storytelling.

Sims can also receive eye examinations and prescriptions for glasses, dental treatment for cavities, and care for various injuries including sprains and fractures. Serious leg fractures may require surgery, followed by rehabilitation and physical therapy. Some injuries can also result in visible casts during recovery.

Infants receive hidden health profiles that can represent potential traits or predispositions, while players can customize event frequency, genetics, family infection, medical bills, emergencies, injuries, and other health-system settings.
