CAS Overhaul

Luumia’s CAS Overhaul is a visual enhancement mod that transforms the Create-A-Sim (CAS) lighting and background environment. It aims to provide a cleaner, more professional look for CAS screenshots and character creation, removing the distinctive green/blue backlighting and offering options tailored for clarity and aesthetic appeal.

Core Features

Improved Lighting Styles

Immersive Lighting: Adds depth and contrast to Sim appearances, available both with and without backlighting.

A version of EA's default lighting, but without the blue/green hue that affects pets.

Other stylistic options such as neutral spotlight setups or overexposed "glamour film" effects.

Custom Background Options:
Choose from 12 different backgrounds—five pastel gradient styles and seven solid colors. Pastels add subtle ambiance, while solid colors are optimized for image editing or green-screen-style effects.

Pet Eye Shine Remover:
A small, separate enhancement that removes specular highlights from pet eyes in CAS for a more natural, matte look.

Usage Notes & Compatibility

Installation: Only one lighting and background combination should be active at a time to prevent file conflicts.

Game Patches: Though well-crafted, many users report that this mod no longer functions as intended after recent updates. In practice, it's often marked as broken by support moderators.

Creator Status: The original creator, Luumia, no longer supports the mod because she was recently hired by Maxis (developers of The Sims 4), which has further impacted updates and compatibility.

Editor's Note:
Luumia’s CAS Overhaul was a popular mod designed to elevate the visual presentation of Sims in CAS by offering refined lighting and pleasing background options. However, due to its outdated status and lack of updates, it's now generally considered non-functional in current game versions. If you're in need of similar effects, newer alternatives from active modders would be more reliable.
