Required Degree For Career Promotions

The mod makes career progression more realistic by requiring Sims to earn a relevant university degree before advancing to higher career levels. While Sims can still start any job, they’ll eventually hit a promotion roadblock unless they have the necessary academic credentials.

How It Works

Degree Checkpoints
At certain career levels—varies by profession—a promotion becomes locked unless your Sim holds a specific degree (sometimes even from a specific university, and occasionally with honors).

Career Coverage
Most careers in the game are affected except Athlete, Criminal, and Actor.
For example:

The Doctor career may require enrollment in university right at Level 1, and then a degree to progress further.

Other careers will have specific level-based triggers where the game checks for a degree.

Add-On Logic
Some versions include an additional checkpoint, requiring a second degree—possibly from a higher-tier university—further up the career ladder.
If your Sim lacks it, they become stuck unless they go back to school.

Setup

Each version of the mod pairs with different careers—install only the files corresponding to the careers available in your game to avoid errors.

Do not install multiple versions simultaneously, as they will conflict.

Some enjoy using it as part of career-themed challenges, where Sims must balance university and work.

Others report a bit of grind managing university and career simultaneously and sometimes use cheats to bypass stuck Sims.
