My First Phone by Danaëlla adds a more realistic phone ownership system for children in The Sims 4. Instead of automatically having access to smartphones, children start without a phone and must receive one from an adult family or household member. This makes getting a first phone a special part of family gameplay, complete with gifting interactions, parental decisions, and consequences.
The mod introduces several new interactions through the Actions menu. Adults can choose Give Phone to present a child with their first smartphone, triggering a custom gift-giving scene with animations and reactions. Children can also use Ask for a Phone to request one from an adult.
Whether the request is accepted depends on several factors, including the relationship between the Sims, the adult's mood, Parenting skill, the child's Responsibility and Manners character values, and their personality traits. If the adult refuses, the child must wait 48 Sim hours before asking again, although the adult can still decide to give them a phone during that period.
Parents and other eligible adults can also use Take Phone Away as a disciplinary action, temporarily removing the child's phone for 24 Sim hours. The phone can be returned early through a separate interaction, giving families more flexibility when handling household rules and consequences.
The mod also includes a cheat menu accessible by Shift-clicking a child. Players can immediately enable or disable phone access for an individual child or all children in the household. Unlike the regular interactions, these options do not trigger animations or moodlets.
Another detail adds more personality to children's reactions: a child who does not own a phone may become upset after seeing another child using theirs nearby. The mod includes eight custom moodlets covering first-phone gifts, rejected requests, phone confiscation, getting a phone back, and the reactions of both children and adults. Some interactions can also affect relationships.
Phone restrictions apply only to children. Once a child ages up into a Teen, normal phone access is automatically restored.
My First Phone is Base Game Compatible and does not require additional expansion packs or external libraries. It includes English, French, and Italian translations. Script Mods must be enabled, and the included script should be kept no more than one folder deep inside the Mods folder.
Important: Do not install My First Phone alongside Danaëlla's No Phone for Kids mod, as both modify children's phone access and will conflict.
My First Phone is a great addition for players who enjoy realistic family gameplay, parental rules, childhood milestones, and storytelling around children's first smartphones.
