The Sims 4 has released a small but important update on January 28, 2025, addressing several bugs reported from the previous patch and rolling out some quality-of-life improvements. While this isn’t a feature-heavy release, it clears up lingering issues and sets a smoother path for future updates.
Alongside the fixes, The Sims team also confirmed that community reports and open threads have fully migrated to the EA Forums. This will now be the primary hub for troubleshooting, bug reporting, and developer feedback. Players can also keep up to date through @TheSimsDirect on Twitter or by joining The Sims Discord.
What’s New in the Base Game
San Myshuno Festival Fixes
One of the biggest issues addressed in this update was festival clutter. Players previously reported overlapping festival objects (like stands and décor) as well as rogue items such as plates, coffee cups, flowers, and crates appearing out of place around San Myshuno. These objects should now behave properly, keeping the city clean and playable.
CAS Clothing Corrections
- The Robe with Boxers outfit (ymBody_SP60RobeBoxers) is no longer wearable by female Sims.
- The Casanova Cave Vest (ymTop_SP60Vest) now correctly tucks in as intended.
UI & Gameplay Tweaks
- Hovertips appear more quickly when hovering over the HUD.
- Lessons menu indentation and linking issues have been fixed for smoother navigation.
- Players can now update traits and aspirations after completing Create a Sim Stories — offering more flexibility post-CAS.
Travel Improvements
Traveling has been streamlined:
- You can now click directly on your Sim to initiate travel.
- The travel interaction has been moved higher in the phone menu for easier access.
A New Look for Grim
The Grim Reaper has received a visual refresh. His robe now features tattered details exposing skeletal ribs, and his hands have skeletal fingers to match, making his appearance even more ominous.
Cross-Pack & Multi-Pack Fixes
Build/Buy Clutter Tags: Many clutter items that were not appearing under the “Clutter” filter in Build Mode have been fixed. Now, your creative clutter should be easier to find and place.
Final Thoughts
While this January 28 update doesn’t bring new venues or interactions, it delivers important bug fixes that improve daily gameplay — especially for San Myshuno festival-goers, CAS creators, and players who rely on clutter in builds. Plus, Grim’s makeover is a fun visual bonus for those who cross paths with him.
As always, the team encourages players to continue reporting issues on the EA Forums, the central hub for updates going forward.
