The Big October 2024 Patch for The Sims 4 has dropped!

Here’s a summary of the Base Game updates for The Sims 4:

Gameplay Changes:

  • Sims now react to death based on traits and relationships, from deep mourning to disgust.
  • Ghosts can be created in Create a Sim (Child-Elder). Ghost Sims have unique needs (like Ethereal Sustenance and Spooky Diversions).
  • New post-death options: Sims can become a playable or free-roaming ghost.
  • Widowed Sims can reinstate their marriage through a new interaction ("Ask to Stay Married").
  • Sims can WooHoo with the Grim Reaper again.
  • Ghost behavior improved; they break things and create messes less often.
  • New "Life Event Activity" picture category added to Build Mode for funerals, weddings, etc.

New Objects & Features:

  • Infant, toddler, and child Sims taken by Social Workers now move to the Household Menu instead of being deleted.
  • New bonfire object: Fieldstone Bonfire Pit.
  • Gravestones and urns can now be manually swapped indoors or outdoors.
  • 10 "true black" color variants added to various base game shoes.

Cross-Pack Content:

  • New gravestone options based on the Sim’s occult type (e.g., vampires, merfolk).
  • Elder ghost animals (dogs, cats, horses) can now be created if you have relevant expansion packs.
  • Players can swap occults in Create a Sim without losing progress if they have the necessary packs.

Technical Improvements:

  • Improved GPU detection on hybrid systems, ensuring correct DirectX 11 usage on some laptops.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixes across various packs including interactions, aging, and textures.
  • Notable bug fixes include preventing Sims from autonomously eating spoiled food, NPC Sims entering homes uninvited, and Sims aging up incorrectly.
  • Several issues addressed in packs like Cottage Living, Growing Together, City Living, Island Living, and more, improving stability and fixing errors with objects, interactions, and UI
