This mod introduces buyable, ownable cars into The Sims 4 and adds basic functionality to make them feel more than decorative. While the game still lacks fully drivable cars, this mod simulates aspects of car ownership and travel in a way that integrates with existing systems.

Core Features

Ownable Cars
  • Cars are objects that Sims can purchase and own.
  • They appear in Build/Buy Mode under vehicles and can be placed on lots.

Functional Interactions
  • Sims can “Drive To…” a destination, which triggers a travel interaction (uses the standard travel system, but adds immersion).
  • Custom animations and effects (like walking to the car before traveling).
Car Storage & Inventory System
Cars are linked to the Sim’s ownership, so they persist as personal property.

Car Keys System (Optional)
Adds an extra layer of realism with keys for ownership/permissions.

Parking Spots
Decorative parking spots for realism; can be used to organize cars on lots.

Extra Gameplay Details
  • Moodlets: Sims may get positive moodlets for owning or using a car.
  • Car Sounds: Includes sound effects for starting and “driving” away.
  • Variants & Styles: Cars come in different styles/colors for aesthetics.
  • Travel System Integration: Uses EA’s travel function but wrapped in a car-related interaction.
What It’s NOT
  • Cars are not fully drivable in an open world because The Sims 4 is not open world.
  • The driving is a simulated travel action, not free movement like in The Sims 3.
