Dissociative Identity Disorder Trait

This mod adds a Dissociative Identity Disorder trait to CAS (Create-a-Sim).  It’s compatible with the base game and doesn’t require any expansion packs.

What It Does
The trait simulates DID by displaying moodlets that reflect which alter ("inner personality") is fronting—tied to your Sim’s current emotion.

Alters correspond with emotional states such as:

Main Sim: when the Sim is feeling fine, happy, confident, focused, or bored.

Hot-Headed Alter: appears when the Sim is angry.

Social Alter: appears when flirty.

Fictive Alter: appears when inspired.

Shy Alter: appears when sad or embarrassed.

Non-Human Alter: appears when uncomfortable or tense.

Child/Silly Alter: appears when playful or energized.

Blending: appears when the Sim feels dazed (symbolizing uncertainty in identity).

There are also random moodlets meant to simulate aspects of DID, like:
  • Thinking about or being spooked by one's "inner world."
  • Multiple alters becoming conscious simultaneously.

Co-fronting, internal conflict, dissociation, hearing voices, and more—with each moodlet triggering short-lived emotional effects like being inspired, stressed, happy, or dazed.

Gameplay Mechanics
The trait introduces rich, emotional storytelling by having Sims shift between different alters based on their emotional triggers.

It includes both friendly and romantic social interactions related to DID, such as:
  • Telling others about the system.
  • Complaining about other alters.
  • Explaining DID or discussing integration.

Sims also receive subtle emotional 'trigger' buffs depending on proximity to other Sims they have strong relationships with, or those with mean traits.

Creator Background & Mod Behavior

Sevendeadlysinsa remade an earlier DID trait (originally by another creator) to better integrate with Sims' behavioral systems and their profile framework.

The mod’s purpose is immersive storytelling—it's not a medical simulation but rather a narrative tool for character-driven play.

Community Response

Some players appreciate the nuanced portrayal of alters via moodlets, saying it added emotional depth or felt surprisingly realistic.

Others raised concerns about the portrayal of DID, pointing out that it tends to lean into dramatized or stereotyped behaviors. One user commented that the “playful alter” behavior felt jarringly exaggerated, and that the trait seems to follow TikTok representations more than clinical accuracy.

Editor's Note:
Sevendeadlysinsa’s DID Trait offers a complex and emotionally evocative simulation of Dissociative Identity Disorder — adding multiple personality expressions, themed moodlets, and unique social interactions based on emotional states. It’s a storytelling-focused mod that brings layered character dynamics into gameplay, but it may require thoughtful consideration when it comes to sensitive representation.
