Functional Grinder

This is a custom appliance created by Pied Piper that lets Sims grind various harvestables into usable cooking ingredients. It’s designed to complement gardening and cooking mods (like Srsly’s Complete Cooking Overhaul or Pied Piper’s own harvestables), adding more depth and realism to food preparation.

Main Features

New Appliance – A countertop grinder object (styled like a mortar & pestle or electric grinder depending on the version).

Ingredient Conversion – Sims can take raw harvestables such as coffee beans, wheat, sugar cane, cocoa, or spices and grind them into usable cooking ingredients.

Integration with Harvestables – Many of Pied Piper’s custom plants (e.g., cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa, sugar cane, green tea, stevia) become more functional through the grinder, as they can be processed into powders, extracts, or sweeteners.

Cooking Compatibility – The ground products work with EA recipes and, when installed, with SCCO’s tagged ingredient system. For example, grinding cocoa can give you cocoa powder that counts as chocolate in recipes.

Gameplay Realism – Adds a small animation of Sims using the grinder, enhancing immersion in kitchen gameplay.

Commonly Ground Ingredients
  • Coffee Beans → Ground Coffee
  • Cocoa → Cocoa Powder
  • Wheat → Flour
  • Sugar Cane / Stevia → Sugar
  • Cinnamon / Vanilla → Spice Extracts or Powder
  • Green Tea Leaves → Tea Powder

Notes & Limitations
  • Requires harvestables in your game to get the most out of it (by Pied Piper, SCCO-compatible mods, or other CC creators).
  • Works on countertops, so Sims can place and use it just like a coffee machine or microwave.
  • Updated to reduce issues like inventory clutter, though ground products can stack up if you grind often.
  • Purely functional — no big moodlets or buffs beyond food preparation, though some players combine it with realism mods for extra immersion.

Editor's Note:
The grinder adds an extra step to cooking gameplay, making food prep feel more layered. Instead of buying everything ready-made, Sims can grow raw ingredients and process them, tying together gardening and cooking in a satisfying loop.
