The Empath trait gives Sims a heartfelt personality twist. Sims with this trait are especially sensitive to the moods of others: being around Sims with strong or mixed emotions gives them buffs, and conversely, being surrounded by negative moods for too long can leave them feeling overwhelmed or dazed. To help, Empath Sims can use a special social interaction called Help With Emotions, which reduces negative moodlets on a target Sim and randomly removes one of them.
Empaths also progress more quickly in related character or skill systems: they gain Character Value for Empathy faster, and if you own the Wellness or Medium skill packs, Empaths level up those skills more quickly.
