How To Fix VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll Missing Error

These errors typically appear when a program that needs these DLL files is installed on a Windows computer.

Here's how you can fix it:

RUN THE INSTALLER FROM ORIGIN

1) Open your file explorer and locate the file from the default location of Origin:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin

Run either of these files:

  • vcredist_x86_vs2015 (for 32bit Windows version)
  • vcredist_x64_vs2015 (for 64bit Windows version)

If you get the message that the files are already installed, you can repair it instead by right-clicking on the file, and then selecting run as administrator.

 If, for some reason, you are unable to do it this way, you can do it manually:

1) Download VCRUNTIME140.dll and MSVCP140.dll from the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable page from Microsoft;

2) Choose between the 32-bit or 64 bit version of Windows and click the Next button. If your computer is running a 32-bit operating system, download the x86 version of the file. If you are using the 64-bit operating system, choose the x64 version of the file. Here's how to know which one you got: if you see Program Files (x86) in your drive C, then your pc is 64-bit.

Alternatively, you can go to Settings app by pressing Windows + i, and then head to System > About. On the right side, look for the “System type” entry. It will show you whether you’re using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system or whether you have a 64-bit capable processor.

3) Once downloaded, double-click on the downloaded file;

4) Put a tick on the "I agree" box when asked if you agree to the license terms and conditions and then click on the Install button.

5) If Windows prompts you to allow the program to make changes or continue, just click on the "Yes" or "Allow" button.

6) A pop up will appear saying that the setup was successful.

7) Restart your computer and launch The Sims 4.  Your game should be able to run fine.
